PORTLAND, Ore. – Registering their 100th regular season win at Providence Park, the Portland Timbers scored a club record seven goals, including six goals in the second half, to secure a 7-2 win over Sporting Kansas City at home on Saturday night. Five different players scored goals, while five players added at least one assist in the win. Nathan Fogaça and Sebastián Blanco each added a brace, while Marvin Loría and Santiago Moreno tallied their first goals of the campaign and Bill Tuiloma recorded his third of the season. Blanco, Eryk Williamson and Cristhian Paredes each tallied a pair of assists in the win.
Double Trouble
In his MLS debut, Nathan recorded a second-half brace, earning his first start in MLS regular season play with Portland. He is the first Timbers player to score a brace in their debut with the club. Blanco scored his first two goals of the season, recording his fifth career brace in MLS, including the playoffs. Blanco, Paredes and Williamson all finished the match with two assists each. It was Blanco’s fourth career multi-assist game with Portland, marking the third time he has registered two assists in a match at Providence Park. For Williamson it was his second career match with two assists.
Firsts and Debuts
Blanco, Fogaça, Loría and Moreno all recorded their first goals of the 2022 season. Diego Chara, Paredes and Williamson added their first assists of the campaign. It also marked the first time Paredes has recorded multiple assists in a match for the Timbers. Along with Fogaça making his debut, Timbers homegrown Tega Ikoba made his MLS debut in the match, logging 20 minutes in the second half.
Goal-Scoring Records
