Premier League teams dealt massive blow in the battle for Crystal Palace wonderkid Michael Olise

Premier League teams have reportedly been dealt a massive blow in the pursuit of Crystal Palace star Michel Olise as contract extension talks commence.

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have been scouting Olise in recent weeks. As well as this, the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have also been linked with signing the winger.

Olise is consistently linked with a move away from Selhurst Park after a stellar first Premier League season.

The Athletic, however, are now reporting that Olise has stated his intent to stay at Crystal Palace. Contract renewal talks are also set to be in place.

However, Olise’s wage is rumoured to be staying the same.

The 20-year-old is likely just going to be offered an extension and no pay-rise. His current terms run until 2026. However, Palace also want to increase the release clause that Olise’s contract currently contains.

The release clause is around £35million which would be a profit of around £26million if he is sold at that value.

Palace would like to increase the release clause to a price upwards of £50m. If a price around this mark is agreed, it will be higher than the club-record sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Man Utd.

During the 2020/21 season, Olise played for Reading in the Championship and had his most prolific season as a professional player.

He contributed to 19 goals in his last season at his boyhood club which is impressive for any player, never mind a player aged only 18.

Where should Olise’s future lie?
