Premier League clubs ‘approach’ Barcelona forward Memphis Depay, as player speaks out over move

Barcelona forward Memphis Depay

Premier League teams have ‘approached’ Barcelona star Memphis Depay over a summer move to England, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The former Manchester United man hit 76 goals in 178 games for Lyon after leaving Old Trafford in January 2017. However, last season he revealed his desire to move on from the French club to make the next step in his career.

Barcelona soon came calling as they viewed the Dutch forward as an ideal capture. Due to him running down his contract, it would not cost Barca much to agree a deal.

A move to the Emirates could make sense as Mikel Arteta, along with technical director Edu, is on the look out for a new centre-forward.

As such, any interested parties will need to step up the chase if they want to sign Depay over the summer.

During a recent interview, the star was asked about his future in Catalonia. He said: “I came here at Barcelona with the desire to play for the team – and of course I want to feel important here for several years.”
