FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II (2-0-2; 9 pts.) will host Inter Miami CF II in MLS NEXT Pro action (3-1-1, 10 pts.) on Sunday at Gillette Stadium in their first of three meetings this season. The match kicks off at 1:00 p.m. ET and will stream on MLSNEXTPro.com.
Revolution II is coming off a 0-0 draw vs. Orlando City B, where they earned one point after falling in the shootout, 4-3. Goalkeeper Jacob Jackson earned the first clean sheet of his professional career, blocking the lone shot on goal he faced in the match while Noel Buck, Ben Reveno, and Hikaru Fujiwara each scored in the shootout.
Revolution Academy forward Triton Beauvois entered the match in the 70th minute, becoming the 21st Revolution Academy player to make his professional debut with New England’s second team. Midfielder Jake Rozhansky created multiple dangerous chances in the match as Revs II outshot Orlando 20-3 in regulation. New England also dominated defensively, blocking four shots throughout the game.
“Right now, we are still undefeated,” Revolution II defender Pierre Cayet stated. “I think that’s a great point. I think our first clean sheet was a big thing. I think we want to keep improving, being able to score, and finish the chances that we have because we like to possess the ball, but it’s important for us as well to finish our chances and get three points every game, so I think this week we’re going to work a lot on finishing and be able to keep that clean sheet so that we can win more games.”
New England currently sits in third place with nine points, while Inter Miami CF II is in second place with 10 points in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference standings.
