Memphis 901 FC Run Past Tampa Bay Rowdies 3-1, Move to 4-1-1

Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC fell just short in their comeback bid against Miami FC on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.

Miami FC quickly built a 2-0 lead with goals from Kyle Murphy and Pierre da Silva in the first 15 minutes of the match.

Miami intercepted a throw in and fed a ball into the penalty area to Murphy, who snuck the ball just past Trey Muse to the far post and into the net in the 7th minute.

Miami FC built on that goal, gaining possession in the 901 FC half in the 11th minute as Joshua Perez attacked the box and fired a cross that was tipped around before Da Silva tipped the ball past the goal line from three feet to extend the lead to 2-0.

The first major chance for 901 FC came in the 28th minute as Laurent Kissiedou dribbled a ball towards Aaron Molloy, who delivered a strong strike on goal only to be save by Miami goalkeeper Connor Sparrow.

901 FC continued to test Sparrow in the 38th minute with Patrick Seagrist sweeping a one-touch crosser that the head of Phillip Goodrum but ultimately fell into the hands of the keeper.

Memphis spent most of the second half in the Miami half of the field, building momentum with chance after chance until Kissiedou fired a strike past the keeper to bring the score to 2-1 in the 77th minute.

901 FC scrambled in the final 13 minutes of play but couldn’t find the back of the net as they fell to 4-2-1 on the season.

Memphis 901 FC will hit the road to face Charleston Battery on Friday, May 6 at 6 p.m. CT.
