Punchestown Festival Tips: Day Four, Friday 29th April 2022

3:40- Stanley Asphalt Hunters Chase for the Bishopscourt Cup (4yo+) 2m5f RTV

The opening race on day four at the Punchestown Festival looks a bit of a shootout between Alpha Male and AN DROICHEAD GORM @ SP with Boylesports for this Hunters Chase. The former is a proven course winner and won this race in 2018, but is now 11 and will have to deal with some younger legs (9) in An Droichead Gorm.

This Pointer was a good winner too last time out so heads here full of confidence and with that also coming off a 298-day break can be expected to have come on for it as well. The horse will also benefit from a 7lbs claimer on his back, whereas Alpha Male will be running off the normal weight.

Boylesports Special Offer – Money back if your horse is 2nd to the SP Fav (max refund £20). Applies to singles and win part of e/w bets in horses races in UK/Ire with 5 or more runners in. (Ts&C’s apply)

4:15 – EMS Copiers Novice Handicap Chase (Grade A) (5yo+) 2m5f RTE2

Plenty of chances here, including course winner French Dynamite, plus Gevrey, Rightplacerightime, Gabbys Cross, Birchdale and Busselton, but it’s hard to ignore the Willie Mullins record in this race – he’s won 5 of the last 6 renewals.
