Pundit hails major Tottenham target as ‘magician’ who ‘looks better than ever’

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp was stunned just how well Tottenham target Christian Eriksen played against his old club during Brentford’s draw with their London rivals on Saturday.

The Bees were the better side but could not find a winner against a Spurs side who have now gone two games without registering a shot on target as their top-four hopes suffered a slight dent.

And it was Tottenham legend Eriksen who was pulling the strings for Thomas Frank’s men.

The 30-year-old, who has been tipped to head back to north London this summer, was given the freedom of the pitch to show all his qualities – having fully recovered from the cardiac arrest he suffered in the summer.

The Dane has been unbeaten in games he has started for Brentford after signing until the end of the season.

And Redknapp was stunned at just how well Eriksen has been able to return to action.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Redknapp hailed Eriksen as ‘exceptional’ and ‘magnificent’ during the goalless draw.

He said: “He was exceptional again. Since he came to Brentford, he’s been magnificent in that area.

“Spurs gave him so much space, there was almost too much respect for him. He was just picking passes out, he’s a magician.

“I have to be honest, it’s a joy to see him playing football again. Not just playing but playing at such an elite level.

“Some of his passing and the rhythm that he plays at, he just makes the game look so effortless.

“I’m gonna go as far to say that he looks better than ever! He really does. He looks so free, he looks so relaxed.”

Several clubs chasing Eriksen deal

Eriksen will be a free agent in the summer and is not just interesting his old club.

Aston Vill are known admirers of the Denmark international, while incoming Manchester United chief Erik ten Hag is also said to be keen on striking a deal for the playmaker.
