Harry Wilson reveals exit request to Liverpool amid ‘most enjoyable season’ at Fulham in second tier

Harry Wilson of Fulham

Harry Wilson has shed some light on his request to leave Liverpool in the summer of 2021, which saw him end up at Championship outfit Fulham.

The right winger came through Liverpool’s academy before going out on several loan spells. He joined the likes of Hull, Derby, Bournemouth and Cardiff to gain senior experience.

That cycle came to an end in July as Fulham agreed to pay Liverpool £12million for Wilson’s signature. Reports claimed they had paid the money straight away, although The Sun suggest it is actually a loan with the obligation to buy.

Wilson is enjoying an impressive season in the second tier. His record stands at 10 goals and 17 assists from 39 matches so far.

That contribution is helping Fulham challenge for the Championship title. They are highly likely to win the trophy after going nine points ahead of Bournemouth, who occupy second place.

And Wilson will be playing Premier League football with the Cottagers next season after their promotion was confirmed.

Harry Wilson earns Championship accolade

The Wales international is part of the Championship Team of the Season. Team-mate Aleksandar Mitrovic has won the Player of the Season award.

At the awards ceremony, Wilson confirmed his transfer to Fulham would be made permanent. He also revealed his request to Liverpool to end the loan cycle, so he could ‘settle down off the pitch’.

“I know now that I will be at a club that I will be at for the next few years after a permanent move,” Wilson told Goal.

“That was what I wanted. I wanted somewhere to settle down off the pitch so I can enjoy it on the pitch.

“My first season here has been great, the club has been great with me, I settled in well with my teammates and set me up for a fantastic year.

“I have managed to get double figures for goals and assists, topping it off tonight by getting into the team of the year.

“This year has been my most enjoyable season. I have that stability now and have a great year behind me.”
