Antonio Conte planning major Tottenham overhaul with six major signings targeted

A report claims that Antonio Conte wants to bring in at least six new signings in the summer to help Tottenham challenge for honours.

Conte is currently in his first season with the north Londoners having replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in November. The Italian tactical has overseen 17 wins from his 30 games at the helm and guided Spurs to fourth in the top-flight standings. Qualification for next season’s Champions League will be key to their recruitment drive.

Playing in Europe’s elite club competition will attract big-name stars to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And it seems as though the former Chelsea chief will demand half a dozen.

The Telegraph say Conte is eager to sign a centre-back, a right wing-back, two midfielders, a forward and a backup goalkeeper. Whether or not he gets his wishes only time will tell.

Daniel Levy is a shrewd operator in the transfer market and unwilling to throw cash about willy-nilly.

He did sanction the permanent signing of Rodrigo Bentancur and loan signing of Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus in January. But four first-team players left either on a permanent basis or on loan.

Kulusevski has been an inspired addition to the ranks. And it was reported on Wednesday that Levy has green-lighted a permanent move for the Sweden international.

The 21-year-old has bagged three goals and six assists since arriving from Turin. He is clearly a player to get the fans out of their seats and handing him permanent terms would be sound business.

Conte standing to lure top-name stars

Conte won three Serie A titles while in charge of Juve and he also lifted the Scudetto with Inter Milan. Success in the Premier League came with Chelsea in the 2016-2017 season as the Blues finished seven points clear of Spurs.

The 52-year-old is a manager with vast experience who has also coached the Italy national side. And he will want to continue the trend of winning trophies while at Tottenham.
