Pundit names four players ‘not good enough’ to be in the Chelsea team following ‘really bad’ performance

Former Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink blasted the performance of Romelu Lukaku against Arsenal and says he along with Andreas Christensen, Malang Sarr and Marcos Alonso should not be in the Chelsea team.

Chelsea suffered a 4-2 home defeat against Arsenal on Wednesday night and Hasselbaink was not impressed. Lukaku was the biggest frustration for the Dutchman, but others did not escape his wrath. Christensen, Sarr and Alonso were also heavily criticised.

Arsenal went in to the game on the back of three straight defeats. They were desperate to keep their top-four hopes alive and got the three points they needed.

Chelsea fail to deliver

But Hasselbaink was fuming with a Chelsea side that are out of the title race. And he does not think they will get back there with some of the current team.

Lukaku was handed his first start in over two months but failed to shine. While Andreas Christensen’s weak back pass allowed Eddie Nketiah to give Arsenal the lead after just 13 minutes.

The performance as a whole was below standard according to Hasselbaink. But four players in particular are not good enough in his eyes.

“If you’re looking at the game they were well under par but Lukaku, Christensen, Sarr and Alonso were just not good enough for a Chelsea team who should be challenging for the Champions League or Premier League,” Hasselbaink told Sky Sports. “I know you can’t be number one anymore but you still play for your pride.

“Lukaku, you’ve not had the best games show that you are the man and really want it. Go and show that desire I didn’t see it.”

It was the performance of Lukaku that disappointed Hasselbaink the most. He knows what it is like to lead the Chelsea line and was critical of Lukaku’s effort.

Hasselbaink was far more impressed with Kai Havertz who came on to replace the £97.5m striker.
