The Premier League has continued at a relentless speed at the start of 2022, but which players have scored the most goals in the competition since the turn of the year?
Fourteen men have scored five or more Premier League goals since January 1, with a few surprise names mixing it with the more familiar faces in England’s top flight.
Here are the top 10 goalscorers in the Premier League over the first third of 2022, ranked from 10th to 1st with minutes played used to separate those with the same totals.
10. Riyad Mahrez – 5
A selection of players have scored five times in 2022 – including Kai Havertz, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Teemu Pukki – but Mahrez has scored that number in the fewest minutes.
Mahrez has endured a torrid time at international level – with Algeria flopping at the Africa Cup of Nations and failing to reach the World Cup – but the winger has enjoyed better success with City.
He hasn’t always been named in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI but the 31-year-old scored a vital equaliser against Arsenal on New Year’s Day and netted twice against a sorry Manchester United in March.

After a slow start to the season, with injuries disrupting his involvement at the Euros for Belgium, De Bruyne has returned to his imperious best in 2022.
The midfielder scored the winner against Chelsea in January, poached a brace during the spanking of Manchester United and opened the scoring during the title showdown against Liverpool in April.
He remains arguably the greatest midfielder in the world and central to City’s hopes of success at home and in Europe.
