Man Utd join Arsenal in chase for £20m attacking upgrade on Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Max Aarons Norwich City

Manchester United have reportedly joined Arsenal in leading the chase to sign Norwich City right-back Max Aarons this summer.

The talented 22-year-old currently has two years left on his Canaries contract. However, with Norwich facing yet another relegation from the top flight, the England Under-21 star’s loyalty finally looks set to come to an end.

Tottenham, Barcelona and Roma have all previously chased the defender, whose price tag has held at £20million for some time.

But now the Gunners and United have joined German heavyweights Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the race for the player, according to a report in The Sun.

United are said to be assessing their right-back options after Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s patchy form. Meanwhile, Aarons fits the Gunners new blueprint of signing young English stars.

The young defender’s loyalty to Norwich can certainly not be questioned. However, Aarons can ill-afford another season in the second tier of English football if he wants to realise his ambitions.

Aarons has made 29 appearances for Dean Smith’s men this season, 28 of those in the Premier League.

The former Carrow Road academy star also played his 150th game for the club in January, highlighting his reliability to the club.

Aarons’ stats stack up against England new boy

While, Crystal Palace star Tyrick Mitchell has jumped ahead of Aarons in the England reckoning after his recent call-up, it’s the Norwich man who has better defensive stats this term.

The Canaries ace has being dribbled past 16 times in the Prem compared to 17 for the impressive Mitchell.

Aarons looks set to return to the Norwich side for Saturday’s clash with Manchester United. The defender has now recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered in March.
