Leicester City already have plan to permanently sign attacking star Ademola Lookman after equalling personal best

Ademola Lookman is likely to become a permanent Leicester City player ahead of next season, according to one transfer reporter.

Leicester City signed Ademola Lookman on loan from RB Leipzig last summer. It marked another return to English football for the London-born winger, who had spent the previous campaign on loan with Fulham.

Indeed, his time in Germany had not quite worked out since his permanent transfer from Everton to Leipzig in 2019. He failed to score in his second spell with the club, after previously getting five goals in 11 games for them on loan in the 2017-18 season.

Returning to the Premier League with Leicester City has been beneficial for him. Across all competitions so far, he has managed to contribute seven goals and five assists from 33 appearances.

He has therefore matched his most prolific season in professional football. Previously, he scored seven goals in his second season with Charlton Athletic, between League One and the FA Cup. He also hit the same tally in 2017-18, between Everton and Leipzig.

Lookman has also made an international breakthrough this season. After previously representing England at under-19, under-20 and under-21 level, a switch of allegiance to Nigeria has allowed him to earn his first two senior caps for a country.

His international future is now clear for the rest of his career. However, he can change the club he represents. And it seems his plans are to remain with Leicester, rather than return to Leipzig.

According to transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, Leicester are planning to sign Lookman on a permanent basis.

There was no mention of an option to buy when the initial loan deal was announced. However, with Lookman having settled at the King Power Stadium, it makes sense for them to return to the negotiating table with Leipzig.
