Mauricio Pochettino has made an admission about his Paris Saint-Germain future, although it is far from convincing and could give Manchester United hope of capturing him.

PSG sit top of the Ligue 1 table with a 12-point advantage on second-placed Marseille. They are in a strong position to regain the French title after losing it to Lille in 2020-21.

While this would be a great achievement for most clubs in France, PSG officials demand more. And the side’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in March put Pochettino under pressure.

The Argentine was booed by his own fans on Sunday. Despite this, Les Parisiens thrashed Lorient 5-1 at home. It was also the first time Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi all got on the scoresheet in the same match.

Pochettino has long been a target for Manchester United and such a move could finally take place this summer. He is under consideration to replace Ralf Rangnick, alongside Ajax’s Erik ten Hag.

The former Tottenham boss was asked about his future during an interview with French outlet Foot Mercato. However, his response is not exactly reassuring for those at the Parc des Princes.

“If it is possible to stay at PSG next season? For the moment, I am not discussing my future with the leaders of the club,” Pochettino said.

“I have one year left on my contract, but it is important to analyse before making a decision and afterwards of course, we will also respect the decision…
