MAN UTD MAKE MILINKOVIC-SAVIC BID

Manchester United have made an initial bid worth £50million for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to a report.

The Red Devils are facing a defining few months as they look to appoint a new manager and guide them through their first transfer window in charge. Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has laid bare the problems the current squad is facing.

He pointed out the breadth of technical talent at Old Trafford. However, the German tactician insisted that the squad is not physical enough and needs a rebuild.

As for who Man Utd could target, they reportedly want a new centre-back, a midfielder and a striker.

Lazio’s Serbia international Milinkovic-Savic has emerged as a firm midfield target. And according to La Repubblica, United have put a bid of €60million in for the 27-year-old.

Previous reports hinted at a potential discount from Lazio president Claudio Lotito, bringing the fee down to United’s initial bid.

However, the latest claim insists that Lotito is standing firm on his original €80million (£67million) valuation of Milinkovic-Savic.

As such, Man Utd and Lazio could meet at €70million (£59million), but the Red Devils have nevertheless started work on the deal.
