Goalkeeper Joe Hart has revealed how a conversation with Pep Guardiola in 2016 signalled the end of his Manchester City career.

Hart joined the Citizens from Shrewsbury Town in 2006. He helped them to win several trophies, including two Premier League titles, in the aftermath of their big-money takeover.

In 2015-16, Hart made 47 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City and kept 18 clean sheets. His solid displays saw them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, only to be beaten by Real Madrid.

Guardiola arrived at the club that summer and quickly decided to change things up. Chile shot-stopper Claudio Bravo was signed from Barcelona for £15.4million.

The manager also promoted Willy Caballero to second choice, demoting Hart below his former deputy.

That left the England international in a precarious position, forcing him to join Torino in a deadline-day loan deal.

Hart then had spells at West Ham, Burnley and Tottenham before linking up with Celtic in August.

He is their first-choice keeper and has even been captain on several occasions. The 34-year-old is enjoying the fact he is finally a regular starter.
