Hugo Lloris said it was Antonio Conte’s arrival at Tottenham that convinced him to renew his contract at club as he felt Spurs were making ‘progress’ under his tutelage.

The Tottenham captain penned a new two-and-a-half-year contract in the January transfer window – keeping him at the north London club until 2024. 

Lloris said Spurs had been inconsistent prior to Conte’s arrival. However, he felt the Italian manager had the ability to help them push for ‘European places’.

Lloris was expected to return to France this summer, with Tottenham known to have been on the look out for a new No 1 ahead of next season. 

However, Lloris admitted the arrival of Conte has played a key role in convincing him to re-commit to the club for at least another two seasons.
