Pundit says he wouldn't swap Bruno Fernandes for in-form Arsenal star Odegaard

Darren Bent has claimed that he would not swap Arsenal’s in-form Martin Odegaard for Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes.

Bent, an Arsenal fan, who played 13 times for England, believes Odegaard has found his best form this season. The Norway international has scored five goals and made three assists in the Premier League. He has started the last 16 Premier League games and has become one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s team sheet.

His form has helped the Gunners into fourth spot, with just one defeat in their last eight games. And his form has been highlighted by Arteta, who says “he is phenomenal to work with”.

Signed permanently from Real Madrid in the summer having spent the second half of last season on loan, Odegaard is showing leadership qualities.

“His whole mindset, the way he prepares himself, the way he treats people, the way he plays the game, is just exactly what we want from an Arsenal player,” said Arteta earlier this month.

And he is not the only one to have been impressed, because Bent says he would not swap the 23-year-old for United hero Fernandes.

Fernandes is four years older at 27, and has scored 35 goals and made 25 assists in 78 Premier League games since arriving from Sporting Lisbon, but Bent wouldn’t swap him for the Arsenal man.

“Of course, he’s been a very good player for Manchester United, but I’m still waiting for him to turn up when they really need him in those big games,” Bent told talkSPORT.
