Arsenal chief Edu has held talks with Brazil head coach Tite amid speculation of Mikel Arteta’s future, according to a report.
The Gunners have made great progression under Arteta’s guidance this season and look on course for Champions League football for the first time since the 2016/17 season with a top four spot in their sights.
But the Emirates hierarchy only have him tied down until next year.
And Globo carry a report which may suggest they are considering appointing Tite as his successor.
The 50-year-old is set to step down from his current role in charge of his national team after the World Cup later this year.
He has made the decision to do so regardless of how his Brazil side fare in the competition.
His availability has sparked talks with Arsenal, and Edu is said to be at the heart of them.
The pair worked together at Corinthians and for their native Brazil so already have a strong relationship.
However, the report doesn’t explicitly say what position Tite would be taking up in north London.
He has always worked in a managerial role but it might be that he moves into the boardroom while Arteta remains in charge.
Globo journalist Eric Faria simply said: “There is already a negotiation of Tite to work in English football. To work at Arsenal.
“He worked with Edu Gaspar. There is the intention, negotiations have started.”
