How it Happened


In the 40th minute, Austin DaSilva had a shot blocked from the top of the NJIT box.  The ball rebounded to Sam Philip, who’s ensuing shot missed just high over the crossbar after catching NJIT goalkeeper Samuel Reisgys on his heels after DaSilva’s attempt. 
NJIT broke through in the 43rd minute when Alejandro Rabell settled a loose ball just beyond the UAlbany box.  He took a few touches, cut, and ripped a shot from deep past UAlbany goalkeeper Carlos Tofern to put the Highlanders up 1-0.
In the 44th minute, Haflidi Sigurdarson drew a foul in NJIT’s box and the Great Danes were awarded a penalty kick.  Bjarki Leosson stepped up to take the attempt and smoothly beat Reisgys to tie the game at one.  It was Leosson’s first goal of the season.
NJIT retook the lead in the 58th minute when Tomas Jorge served a ball in to Goncalo Franco, who redirected the serve with his head and into the back…
