Head Coach Leigh Howard: “Tonight we have to give a ton of credit to Vermont, their staff, and their players.  We came out after a couple of great results, trying to build on our momentum, and they did a great job of shutting that down.  Some nights the cards just don’t fall in your favor and when Devon went down in the back things started to fall out of place.  Regardless of that, our players kept fighting until the end and that’s very reflective of this season.  We kept fighting against the odds, no matter who was called upon.  I am proud of this group, and we will miss the seniors and fifth-years who have invested so much time and emotion into the program over their careers.”
 
How it Happened


Eight minutes into the first half, Jasmine Colbert took on three Vermont defenders before taking a shot from the top of the Vermont box.  Colbert’s shot was blocked by the Catamount defense.
UAlbany took three shots before Vermont attempted their first, for which Devon Schmitt blocked Vermont’s attempt at the top of the UAlbany box before it became a threat.
In the 21st minute, Olivia Piraino was taken down in the Vermont box.  Jasmine Colbert took the ensuing penalty kick, which was partially deflected by Vermont goalkeeper Lydia Kessel before bouncing off the right post and rolling over the line to…
