LOS ANGELES — After helping the No. 18 USC women’s soccer team to a 2-0 win at No. 19 California, Kayla Colbert was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week.
Colbert scored the opening goal and assisted the second for USC as the Trojans picked up their third win over a ranked opponent this season. It is the first career Pac-12 weekly award for the sophomore forward.
Colbert’s opening goal was a long strike from 25 yards out in the third minute and then she followed that up with a pass from midfield into the penalty area for Simone Jackson, who put it away with a one-time shot in the 18th minute.
In just five games played, Colbert already has three goals and four assists to sit third on the team with 10 total points.
She is the fourth Trojan to earn Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors, more than any other program in the conference. She joins Simone Jackson (9/12), Nicole Payne (9/26) and Croix Bethune (10/17).
USC will be back on the road this week, heading to Utah on Thursday and Colorado on Sunday. Both games will be on the Pac-12 Network.
