RALEIGH – Before returning home for three-straight matches, NC State men’s soccer (2-2-1, 0-1-0 ACC) continues league action on the road on Friday night with a trip to 10th-ranked Pitt (4-1-0, 1-0-0 ACC). The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. on ACCNX.

• Each of the last two meetings between NC State and Pitt have occurred on the Panthers’ home field. The Wolfpack is 0-3-1 when playing on the road against Pitt.
• The last time the two squads faced off during the regular season was Sept. 25, 2018. Pitt took that match by a 3-1 tally despite the Pack taking an early lead on a Brad Sweeney free kick in the sixth minute.

NC State dropped a hard-fought battle with visiting James Madison on Tuesday night, falling 1-0 to the Dukes at home. The squads both tallied 11 shots apiece, and the possession advantage went in favor of NC State, but the Dukes came away with the win courtesy of a 73rd minute score. The Wolfpack nearly broke the deadlock with under 20 minutes remaining as Junior Nare (71′) had a close-range shot deflected and Conor Kelly (72′) had a strike on target stopped by JMU’s keeper.
RANKED OPPONENT RECORD
NC State has picked up six victories over ranked opponents in the five completed seasons of the Kiefer era. Since the start of 2017, the Pack has played a total of 27 games against ranked teams, with 19 of those being top-five teams. Friday’s match is the 28th such match.
