Five Straight For The ‘Cuse

Graduate student Jenna Tivnan and redshirt sophomore Erin Flurey each scored on headers and Syracuse (6-1) won its fifth straight contest, defeating Binghamton (1-4-1) at Bearcats Sports Complex.

HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED:

The Orange got on the board first, executing a set piece. Kate Murphy initiated things with a corner kick and Tivnan redirected the ball into the Bearcat goal. The tally came 19:55 into the contest. 

Just over three minutes into the second half, Syracuse extended its lead when Flurey received Rauch’s pass and headed it past the Binghamton goalkeeper. The Orange never trailed in the contest.

BEARCATS BATTLE:

Host Binghamton got back into the game when Victoria McKnight scored at 68:35, off an assist from Maya Anand. The Bearcats were unable to draw closer.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:

  • The five-game Orange winning streak is one shy of the program record.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch finished with two saves in a complete-game effort.
  • Syracuse outshot Binghamton, 25-5.
  • The Orange earned nine corners to none for the Bearcats.
  • Graduate student Chelsea Domond had a game-high six shot attempts.
  • Flurey and freshman Maya McDermott each had five shots for the Orange.
