The FA have taken the decision to postpone all football this weekend as a mark of respect to the Queen Elizabeth II after her death on Thursday. Even at grassroots, junior matches have been cancelled nationwide.
Basically, if you see anyone kicking a football this weekend, report them to the authorities immediately and wait for them to be hung in the Tower. Or something.
Mercifully, via the medium of subscription television, you can still access some football this weekend.
Admittedly, there aren’t many match-ups on the continent to get the pulses racing, but it’s this or rugby union. Or rugby league. Or Test cricket. Or any of the other sports who didn’t completely soil their sheets on Friday morning.
