SEATTLE – The No. 8/2 Washington men’s soccer team makes its way down to Tampa, Fla. for a matchup with South Florida. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET at Corbett Stadium.
 
UW-SOUTH FLORIDA HISTORY 
The match marks the second meeting between the two programs have met. In the first meeting, the Huskies went down to Tampa and came away with the 2-1 win back in 2014.
 
SCOUTING THE BULLS
South Florida is currently 0-2-1 on the season. The Bulls opened the season with a 0-0 draw with Florida Gulf Coast before dropping the next two contests at No. 24 North Carolina (0-1) and at Marquette (0-1).
 
Jemone Barclay leads the team with five shots on the year, three on goal. Ajmeer Spengler, Marcus Victorio and Oscar Resano have all recorded four shots on the season.Salvatore Mazzaferro and Shion Soga were named to the American Athletic Conference Preseason Team.
 
INDIVIDUAL RECOGNITION 
Senior goalkeeper Sam Fowler is entering his final year with a load of preseason accolades, including being named to the United Soccer Coaches Player to Watch List and MAC Hermann Watch List, while also ranking No. 8 on the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100.
 
Christian Soto was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Best XI Second Team, as well as ranking 15th on the Top Drawer Soccer Top 100. Soto played and started in 20 games for the Huskies last year and notched four assists on the year. The junior also earned his first career Pac-12 weekly honor after being named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Aug. 28.
 
Following his first career goal and hat trick last week, sophomore Ilijah Paul was named Pac-12 Player of the Week. The forward had nine points over two matches (four goals and an assist), including his first career hat tick in UW’s 4-1 win over Utah Valley on Friday.
 
WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR 
Head coach Jamie Clark is one win away from 150 at the helm of Washington. His 149 wins is the second most for a UW men’s soccer coach, behind Dean Wurzberger (1992-2010). 
 
Sam Fowler has 22 shutouts in his career, which is fourth in program history and seventh in Pac-12 history. He would need eight more for the Pac-12 career record and nine more for the school record.
 
UP NEXT 
Washington returns home for a three-match homestand, opening it up against Air Force on Sept. 11. Following that, the Huskies host Michigan State (Sept. 16) and Seattle U (Sept. 20). Single game…
