Scouting Marist
Marist is 1-0-1 through two games on their schedule this season, and will host the Great Danes in their home opener.  The Red Foxes were picked as the unanimous favorite in the MAAC this season, and landed two Preseason All-MAAC selections in midfielder Henrique Cruz and goalkeeper Samuel Ilin.  Marist won the MAAC title for the fourth time in their history in 2021, advancing past Rider in the title game on penalty kicks.  Their season ended in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at Providence, finishing the season with a final record of 12-7-3.  UAlbany is 6-3-3 against Marist since the 2001 season.
 
Last Time vs. Marist
Haflidi Sigurdarson lifted UAlbany over the Red Foxes with his third game-winning goal of the season, scoring in the 99th minute just before the first overtime period ended.  The Great Danes had a handful of chances earlier in the game, first in the 23rd minute and later in the 66th that Marist goalkeeper Dylan McDermott turned away.  It was UAlbany’s third-straight victory over Marist.
 
Last Time Out
UAlbany played the middle leg of an early-season three-game road swing at Fairfield.  The game suffered a delay of more than one hour before it event started.  After a scoreless first half, Fairfield broke through in the 53rd minute to take a 1-0 lead.  It was the only score of the game.  Despite the defeat, UAlbany controlled possession and had several opportunities to score that didn’t find the back of the net.
 
Around the America East
