Thomas Tuchel has admitted that “it does not take a lot to beat” his Chelsea side at the moment following their loss against Southampton at St Mary’s.
The Blues have already spent £167m on new players this summer and their summer spending will exceed £300m if they secure their remaining targets.
Chelsea have not been at their scintillating best so far this campaign. Earlier this month, they were beaten 3-0 on away soil against Leeds United.

Tuchel’s men fell to their second away defeat of the 2022/23 campaign on Tuesday night.
This was even with them getting off to a bright start. Raheem Sterling scored his third goal in two games to make it 1-0 to the visitors.
But Romeo Lavia and Adam Armstrong netted before the break to turn the game on its head.
Chelsea were unable to battle back in the second half so they now sit eighth on seven points after their opening five games.
Tuchel suggested after his side’s defeat that they are “struggling” with their “focus and consistency”:
“We started well in all the games almost but obviously we are struggling with our focus and consistency in matches,” Tuchel told BT Sport post-match.
“We struggled to find answers and find the way back if things don’t go in our direction. Things did go in our direction today but then we struggled after the equaliser.
“I don’t know if concern is the right word. I absolutely dislike to lose, it is the second time this season and I don’t think it takes a lot to beat us and this I don’t like.
“We try to win matches and the way we do this is something we need to understand as fast as possible. I also don’t understand why we are in this situation with injuries to all midfield.
“I think in the first 20 minutes we created half chances but struggled to score. That is also not brand new for us and that doesn’t necessarily have the consequence you can lose matches, you can win 1-0.”
Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl was in a much chippier mood after the final whistle. He does not think that his players struggled even when they were a goal behind:
“It is not enough to get good words after the game but no points, today we had to take the situations when they came to score,” Hasenhuttl told BBC Sport.
“Even when we were 1-0 down I didn’t feel we were struggling. With this effort you deserve a lot.”
