Arsenal to make ‘new attempt’ for midfielder after coming ‘close’ to signing in January

Arsenal target Arthur Melo controls the ball on his chest

Arsenal are still truly, madly, deeply in love with Arthur Melo it seems with fresh rumours he could be arriving at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

He may be their dream, their wish, their fantasy but it still remains to be seen if they will stand with him on a mountain or even bathe with him in the sea.

Gunners fans are tired of hearing Arthur’s name, following months and months of speculation that he’ll end up in north London, with our resident Arsenal supporter Jason Soutar as sick as any of them.

Mikel Arteta can be only reason for Arsenal cynicism in this era of the manager cult

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is said to rate Arthur with the Old Lady looking to get him off their books so they can pursue more transfers of their own.

Gabriel Magalhaes, who was one of the Gunners’ best players last season, has been linked to a £40m transfer in the opposite direction but that now looks unlikely to happen.

And former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, speaking earlier this month, has always doubted Gabriel would move to Juventus. Campbell told Football Insider: “No chance. There is no chance. Listen, it is flattering when a club like Juventus are talking about signing you.

“It is…
