HERRIMAN, Utah – Real Salt Lake has permanently transferred MF Everton Luiz to SK Beveren (Belgian A2), the Utah-based Club announced. The Brazilian-born fan-favorite known simply as “Everton” made 62 starts in 82 MLS regular season / playoff appearances for the Claret-and-Cobalt in the past three-and-a-half seasons, since his arrival from Italian side SPAL at the beginning of the 2019 campaign.

Everton’s transfer marks the third transaction between Real Salt Lake and a member club of Owner David Blitzer’s growing football network, following FW Sergio Cordova’s arrival in February from FC Augsburg (German Bundesliga) and DF Chris Kablan’s loan earlier this season from SK Beveren.

Blitzer boasts interests in six European soccer entities, including Crystal Palace (England), FC Augsburg (Germany), Estoril (Portugal), ADO Den Haag (Netherlands), Alcorcón (Spain) and SK Beveren (Belgium).

“We share nothing but gratitude towards Everton for his time with and service to our Club,” said Real Salt Lake General Manager Elliot Fall, now in his 15th year with RSL. “Everton was a critical piece in both our 2019 and 2021 playoff pushes with him in the lineup, and we are glad we could facilitate his desired move back to Europe. We expect great success for him in Belgium, and are proud to call him a member of the RSL family.”
