Lampard adds Tottenham defender to ‘shortlist’ as he looks to bolster Everton defence

Wales centre-back Joe Rodon during a match

Everton manager Frank Lampard has added Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Joe Rodon to his “shortlist”, according to reports.

The Wales international only played ten times for his club last term. He made one start and was an unused substitute 29 times in the Premier League.

Spurs are being competent in their transfer business and it all feels very unusual

With game time under Antonio Conte at a premium, a move this summer could be on the cards.

According to Alex Crook, Everton are interested in signing Rodon, with Lampard “quite keen” on Harry Winks, while the Welshman is on the former Chelsea manager’s “shortlist”.

Crook said on talkSPORT (quotes via Football London): “In terms of Everton, really interesting link-up between Everton and Tottenham. Daniel Levy and Bill Kenwright were actually spotted out having dinner at a London restaurant on Monday night and I’m sure the name of Richarlsion and Anthony Gordon came into the conversation.

“We know for his part Frank Lampard is quite keen on at least one Tottenham player in Harry Winks, maybe two, as I’m told Joe Rodon is also on Lampard’s shortlist this summer, so there could be some kind of swap deal.”

Nottingham Forest are also reportedly keen on signing Rodon, as well as Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Meanwhile, Everton and Spurs have agreed a “full agreement” over the transfer of Brazilian forward Richarlison, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist wrote on Twitter: “Chelsea made an attempt to hijack Richarlison deal before agreement between Everton and Tottenham, in place since this morning for £60m.

“Spurs have full agreement with both EFC and Richarlison on personal terms. Just waiting for medical in Brazil and player signature.”

Richarlison grabbed six goals and two assists in his final ten Premier League games in 2021/22.

The Brazil international will be Spurs’ fourth summer signing after the captures of Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.

They are also linked with Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence, who played last season on loan with Nottingham Forest.
