Tormenta FC 2 Defeats Peachtree City

STATESBORO, Ga. – In part two of today’s double header, South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 took on Peachtree City MOBA, defeating the fellow Georgians 2-0 at Erk Russell Park.

Tormenta FC 2 controlled much of the game tonight and did well in creating opportunities and connecting passes to reach MOBA’s attacking half. The first chance of the game came from Brian Gonalez who gained control of the ball in the eighth minute, firing a powerful shot over the MOBA line to shake the far post.

In the 11th minute, JC Ngando gave Tormenta FC 2 an early 1-0 lead, scoring his third goal of the season thanks to an assist by Mutaya Mwape. The chances kept coming for TFC 2 as Mwape slid the ball across the goal to find Nick Akoto who hit the post from a tight angle.

Tormenta FC 2 goalkeeper Eric Cotton had an incredible performance tonight, pushing himself to the limit and making crucial saves throughout the match. Cotton first made a huge save in the 31st minute, stopping MOBA’s chance from a dangerous freekick spot, later followed by two more important saves within 30 seconds.

In the second half, MOBA began to settle in with a string of chances and corner kicks, but thanks to the TFC 2 backline and goalkeeper, Peachtree City was unable to convert their chances.

After much give and take between the two sides, forward Bryan Iliohan doubled the score for Tormenta FC in the 63rd minute with a beautiful strike to the back of the net for his first goal in the Blue and Magenta.

In the 66th minute, Cotton made yet another jaw-dropping save to ensure his clean sheet and a final score of 2-0.

Tonight’s Player of the Match presented by Galactic Comics and Games is midfielder Brian Gonzalez who was a force in the midfield tonight and nearly scored a goal of his own, connecting Tormenta FC’s backline to attacking players and battling through a tough match to secure all three points.
