Barcelona are expected to be told they will be able to register Dani Olmo – if only for the time being – after lodging an appeal this week.

According to multiple reports in Spain, the club are set to be granted a precautionary measure by the Higher Sports Council (CSD) which will allow them to temporarily register both Olmo, a target for several Premier League sides, and Pau Victor.

As a result, once the decision has been made official, both players will be permitted to play in LaLiga again after facing several weeks of uncertainty.

Olmo and Victor have been included in Barcelona’s Super Cup squad despite being ineligible to play. According to Mundo Deportivo, the club are optimistic they will receive approval for the registrations this week, and it could arrive shortly.

The latest ruling, which will ease the pressure on president Joan Laporta after another tumultuous period, does not mean that Olmo and Victor will be able to play against Athletic Bilbao in the Super Cup in Riyadh this evening.

The CSD’s verdict also does not mean that Olmo and Victor will be eligible for the rest of the season. Instead, the ruling is a recognition that Barcelona’s appeal, which was lodged in the form of a 52-page document, has a sound legal basis.
