A Sporting Lisbon source has responded to claims that Ruben Amorim‘s move to Manchester United is ‘done’.
Mail Sport reported on Wednesday night that United are closing in on sealing the services of Amorim, 39, on a two-and-a-half year deal to replace Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils have agreed to pay Sporting £9.2m in compensation, with Amorim expected to join the club after the November international break, and Ineos director Sir Dave Brailsford appeared to confirm the deal on Wednesday night when he told fans outside Old Trafford ‘yeah, it’s done’ following United’s 5-2 win over Leicester.
But an official Sporting source has insisted an agreement is yet to be reached between the two clubs for Amorim, with Sporting yet to receive a fee for the Portuguese boss’s contract to be terminated, as reported by A Bola.
It is understood that a deal is edging nearer, with two of Amorim’s assistants, Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido, expected to join him at United, but an agreement is yet to be finalised, according to reports in Portugal.
