Utah Soccer Ties with #23 Oklahoma State

Arizona State

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women’s soccer program had their first tie with a ranked team and conference foe since 2020, on Sunday afternoon after facing off with #23 Oklahoma State at Ute Field and ending the game at 0-0.

Utah, 4-4-4, now 1-2-2 in conference play, matched efforts with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, 8-2-3, 1-2-2 in Big 12 matches, to level their first match in fifteen years.

“Like Thursday, I thought we created enough chances to win the game, so I’m disappointed for our team that we didn’t get better results,” said head coach Hideki Nakada. “That being said, we did a lot of good things. Both teams played hard going in to halftime, tying efforts with two shots in the first half, but the Utes were able to take charge of the second half, tallying eight shots to the Cowgirls six. Oklahoma State is the seventh opponent this season that Utah has outshot.

Graduate forward Taliana Kaufusi controlled the pitch with four of Utah’s shots, three of which were on goal, making her the highest shooter of the match. Junior forward Kelly Bullock and freshman forward Bella Woods were working hard for Utah as well, both bringing two shots of their own.

Though sophomore midfielder Lilliah Blum didn’t mark down any assists, the Verona, Wisc. native was quick to beat any Cowgirl to the ball and keep the game in the Utes’ favor.
