COLUMBIA, SC – The No. 25 South Carolina women’s soccer team (2-0-4) came up late in a 2-2 draw against Georgetown (3-1-3) Thursday night at Stone Stadium.

Georgetown had the advantage over South Carolina throughout the first half outshooting the Gamecocks 8-to-2 including 3-to-1 on goal. The Hoyas kept steady possession of the ball in the first half, including six corner kicks to South Carolina’s one.

The Gamecocks’ first opportunity came from sophomore Maggie Taitano in the 30th minute who sent one just out over the crossbar.

In the second half, South Carolina matched Georgetown’s efforts in the first, outshooting them 12-to-9 and 7-to-5 on goal.  Georgetown, however, solidified the first goal of the match in the 57th minute to take the advantage 1-0.

In the 68th minute, the Gamecocks found the equalizer after sophomore Cuyler Zulauf sent in a corner kick headed by junior Kinley Brown into the net for her first career goal.

The Hoyas took back their advantage after a foul on the Gamecocks resulted in a free kick just outside of the 18 leaving the score 2-1.

With just three minutes left, the Gamecocks drew up a penalty that set up a free kick taken by Hallie Meadows that was then headed in by fifth-year Cat Barry for her fifth goal of the season.
