No. 3 Florida State Wins 3-0 at Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida lost 3-0 to defending NCAA champions and No. 3 Florida State Sunday afternoon in front of a Donald R. Dizney Stadium soccer record crowd of 1,294.
 
Sunday’s result was Florida’s first loss of the season. The two teams entered Sunday’s match among 36 NCAA Division I programs without a loss in 2024.
 
Sunday’s Scoring:
Florida State opened scoring in the 15th minute off a Taylor Huff goal. Kameron Simmonds pounced on a short Gator clearance attempt on the far side of the box. She sent a centering pass to Peyton McGovern, who touched the ball out left to Wrianna Hudson. She passed the ball left to Huff, who took a touch to create space and then hit a left-footed shot to far corner.
 
The Seminoles scored again in the 58th minute. Ran Iwai sent a ball from near the center circle on the Seminole half into space for Hudson to run onto. Hudson took a touch and used her next touch to send the ball to center of the net.
 
The final goal of the match came in the 81st minute. Nina Norshie brought the ball down the center of the Gator half, sending the ball ahead for Kameron Simmonds to one-touch in from 12 yards.
 
For the match, FSU outshot the Gators 9-5. UF held a 4-3 edge in shots in the first 45 minutes, with redshirt sophomore Madison Jones taking UF’s first shot in the third minute and the final shot in the 88th minute.
