Men's Soccer Set for Kickoff Against Marist Monday Night


ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men’s soccer program (1-4-0, 0-0 America East) will get ready over the weekend as they prepare to travel down to Poughkeepsie, N.Y for a Monday night match against the Marist Red Fox’s (1-3-0, 0-0-0 MAAC) 
 

 
Heading Down to Poughkeepsie
Following a close 1-nil heartbreaking loss against Sienna on Thursday, September 5th, the Great Danes will look to get back into the win column on Monday night with a trip down to Marist College.
 
Still leading the team with three points off one goal and one assist this season is Timo Jansen who has shot the ball on net five times with a total of nine shots for a 0.556 shots on goal percentage. At the top of UAlbany’s shots on goal column is Ander Castillo with six shots on goal from 13 shots. Limassol, Cyprus native Christos Efstathiou has spent the most time on the pitch of any player for the Great Danes in their first five matches with a total time of ‘433 in which the defender has recorded one assist.
 
Senior Parker Kump (0-3-0) has gotten the start in goal over the last two matches having appeared in three total since he entered against Seton Hall in the ’49. With a total time of 231:09, he has recorded nine saves against 42 shots with five goals allowed for a 1.95 goals against average and 0.643 save percentage.

Running down the Red Foxes

Marist heads into Monday’s meeting coming off a 1-0 win against Army thanks to a goal in the ’59 of play that came off the boot of Chris Verheul. Alongside Verheul, Skyler Cunha leads the Red Foxes with just one goal coming against Marquette while also assisting on the game-winning goal against Army for three total points this season.

 

Sophomore Kyle Evans is Marist’s team leader with five shots while recording zero shots on goal. Freshman Verheul currently holds the highest shots-on-goal percentage of any Red Fox shooting four shots, three on net, for a 0.750 shots-on-goal percentage. The Red Foxes will also enter Monday’s match with a total of nine yellow cards and one red card.

 

Jamie Lowell (1-3-0) has been the primary keeper for Marist this season having started in all four matches totaling a time of 331:38 on the pitch while making 18 saves with 10 goals against having faced 58 total shots for a 2.71 goals against average and 0.643 save percentage.
