Soccer Welcomes Utah Tech to Tempe on Sunday


TEMPE – Sun Devil Soccer closes out its non-conference schedule on Sunday with a home game against Utah Tech at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. The start of the game was adjusted earlier in the week, and it will now begin at 11 a.m. AZT.

Arizona State will enter the game with a 4-0-2 record, riding a three-game winning streak and posting consecutive shutouts. They have gone 3-0-2 at home on the season, with only one goal conceded in those five contests. The Sun Devils rank 21st in the country by scoring 2.83 goals per game while attempting 18.50 shots per game. The opposition has scored three goals – 0.50 per game – on an average of 8.00 shots.

Kierra Blundell leads ASU with five goals and 13 points. Enasia Colon and Cameron Valladares are tied for the team lead with three assists. Colon is second on the club with four goals and 10 points while leading all Sun Devils with 26 shots. Pauline Nelles holds a 0.50 goals-against-average and .880 save percentage.

ASU is coming off a 3-0 win over Penn last Sunday in Tempe. Blundell recorded the fourth hat trick by a freshman in program history in the victory.

SERIES NOTES: Sunday’s game is the first meeting between the Sun Devils and the Trailblazers. Utah Tech becomes the fourth opponent ASU will play for the first time this season.

ABOUT UTAH TECH: Utah Tech brings a 3-0-2 record to Tempe after securing a 2-1 win at Northern Arizona on Thursday. The Trailblazers are 1-0-1 on the road. They are scoring 1.40 goals per game while allowing 0.80.

Lacy Fox leads Utah Tech with four goals and 10 shots. Adele Faller has a team-best two assists. Brianna Frey has played every minute in goal with a .852 save percentage and two shutouts.

DOMINANT START: The Sun Devils are looking to complete one of the best non-conference seasons in program history. They have already guaranteed a fifth straight season with one or fewer losses in non-conference play, and a win on Sunday would mark the second time the team has been unbeaten out of conference.
