Missed Chances Lead to Scoreless Draw with Little Rock

LSU

TEMPE – Sun Devil Soccer wrapped up a three-game homestand to open the season with a scoreless draw against Little Rock on Thursday night at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. Heavy rain and lightning delayed the game by nearly two hours at the start.

Once the action began, Arizona State (1-0-2) controlled much of the action. The home side attempted 22 shots in the game and earned 11 corner kicks. Despite those opportunities, ASU only managed seven shots on goal.

The Sun Devils’ two best chances came in the second half. A shot from Addison Haws in the 71st minute hit the right post, and then Keri Matthews deflected a cross over the top of the crossbar in the 80th minute.

Little Rock (0-1-1) managed just three shots in the game but had one of the better scoring chances in the 14th minute when an attempt from Jaeda Centeno bounced off the right post.

Enasia Colon led ASU with nine shots while putting six on goal. Ella Opkvitne had the other shot on goal for the Sun Devils.

Paulie Nelles secured her second consecutive shutout in goal with one save.

ASU will now head to Lousiana, where it will face LSU on Sunday in Baton Rouge. That game begins at 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
