Nottingham Forest have made an offer worth €25m for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez according to reports.
Forest kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth and are believed to keen to add to their attacking options before the window closes.
The club already have Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi as strikers but have seemingly identified Gimenez as a player they want.
Forest make €25m bid for Gimenez
It was reported overnight that Forest had a bid of €25m turned down for the Mexico international which falls short of Feyenoord’s valuation.
Gimenez played under now Liverpool manager Arne Slot for the Dutch side and scored 23 league goals last season as they finished second to champions PSV Eindhoven.
The Mexican is a Champions League calibre player and had been linked with a move to Tottenham earlier in the window.
Fabrizio Romano has stated that the bid wasn’t enough to tempt Feyenoord to sell and negotiations are ongoing between the clubs.
He took to X.com and said:

The Athletic have added that Forest are weighing up whether to make another bid for the 23-year-old with the striker high on their list of targets, but a deal could be difficult given the gap in valuation between the two clubs.
If Forest were able to complete a deal for Gimenez it would be quite the coup given he’s played in the Champions League and with the greatest of respect to Forest it’s perhaps surprising no clubs with European football have seemingly come forward for the striker.
As good as Awoniyi has been he’s suffered with a number of injury issues, whilst Wood isn’t exactly a prolific goalscorer, although he has scored 12 Premier League goals in 17 Premier League appearances under Nuno Espirito Santo, so you can understand why Forest are perhaps assessing their options.
