Tottenham vs Bayern Munich: Preview, predictions and lineups

Ange Postecoglou

It’s round two of Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season battle with Bayern Munich this Saturday as Ange Postecoglou’s side welcome the German giants to north London.

Spurs already faced the Bavarians in South Korea at the beginning of the month, a game they lost 2-1 despite an exquisite strike from Pedro Porro. Goals from Gabriel Vidovic and Leon Goretzka inflicted the first defeat of Tottenham’s pre-season campaign.

The Lilywhites will be seeking revenge this weekend in what will be their final match before the 2024/25 Premier League season kicks off. Postecoglou’s side will have nine days between Saturday’s clash and their domestic opener against Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Bayern have been busy this summer. After appointing Vincent Kompany in the dugout, they have spent big on Hiroki Ito, Michael Olise and Joao Palhinha, with more activity likely to come as they look to reclaim their Bundesliga crown.

Spurs are likely to field a similar lineup to the one that tasted defeat to Bayern in Seoul, even if there are one or two alterations. Destiny Udogie is still sidelined with injury but the likes of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero could return.

Richarlison is also struggling with injury at present and may be leaving Spurs in the near future. Dejan Kulusevski has been leading the line in a false nine role during pre-season and may continue there until Tottenham sign a new striker – perhaps Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.
