Denmark international Hojbjerg made 184 appearances during his four-year spell at Spurs, scoring 10 goals. He previously played for Bayern Munich and Southampton.

He had entered the last year of his contract, however, and would therefore have been available to leave on a free transfer in 2025 had an extension not been agreed.

Spurs have strengthened Ange Postecoglou’s midfield this summer with Archie Gray joining from Leeds and Lucas Bergvall arriving from Djurgardens in Sweden.

The club statement wished Hojbjerg ‘all the best for the future’.

Hojbjerg was part of the Denmark side that were knocked out of Euro 2024 by hosts Germany in the last-16 and has been capped 81 times by his country to date.
