Andre Onana has given his verdict on Leny Yoro’s first appearance for Manchester United.

After completing his £52million move from Lille, Yoro played the first half as United beat Rangers 2-0 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

There will be much focus on Yoro this season, especially given his significant price tag.

However, Onana is confident that the 18-year-old will not be fazed by the level of expectation surrounding him.

Yoro will be looking to settle in quickly at United and become a key player for Erik ten Hag‘s side.

Yoro gave a good account of himself against Rangers and Onana was impressed with the Frenchman’s composure in possession.

Onana told Sky Sports: ‘When you have the opportunity to be a Manchester United player that’s when you have a lot of quality.

‘He already showed this in the first half. Great guy, very young player. Good on the ball. We will enjoy him this season.

‘He will. We are here to help him, no matter what is going on. Us as leaders, he’s a young player, we’re going to give him time.

‘He’s going to be alright because we have very good scouts here, so if they made him come that means he has a lot of quality.’

Yoro made 60 appearances for Lille and has also represented France at Under-21 level.

United have made a busy start to the transfer window as in addition to Yoro they have also brought in forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5million.

Amad Diallo and Joseph Hugill were on the scoresheet for United against Rangers as ten Hag’s side bounced back from their 1-0 loss to Rosenborg in their opening pre-season fixture.

United will now head to the USA ahead as they prepare to take on Arsenal in their next friendly. They will then face Real Betis and Liverpool.

Onana was making his first appearance of pre-season against Rangers, with Jadon Sancho also back in the fold after calling a truce with ten Hag.
