Manchester United are reported to be closing in on a deal to sign Brighton & Hove Albion forward Elisabeth Terland.
United‘s transfer window is now firmly up and running following the additions of Dominique Janssen and Melvine Malard in recent weeks. The former arrived on a free transfer from Wolfsburg, while the latter has seen her loan from Lyon become a permanent deal until 2027.
According to The Guardian, the Red Devils are set to make their third signing of the window in Brighton’s Terland. It is said the Norwegian has agreed a two-year deal with the option of a third.
Terland began her career in her homeland and has been based in England since 2022 when arrived in the WSL with the Seagulls. The two-year contract she signed expired last month.
Last season, Terland impressively finished the campaign as the league’s joint second top goalscorer alongside Chelsea’s Lauren James. She scored 13 goals in 22 games, although was still eight behind prolific Golden Boot winner Khadija Shaw.
Terland represented Norway at various youth levels before she was called up to the senior squad for the first time in 2019. She made her debut two years later in 2021 and has 31 caps and nine goals. International colleague and ex-Brann teammate Lisa Naalsund will be an instantly familiar face in Manchester, while she played with former United defender Maria Thorisdottir at Brighton.
The forward’s arrival will be a major boost for United following the departure of Lucia Garcia. The Spain international joined Monterrey in Mexico when he contract expired. But Nikita Parris is reported to have had her one-year contract extension triggered, while Marc Skinner still also has Geyse and Leah Galton to call on. There has been no word on Rachel Williams’ future.
