Brentford vs Chelsea – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Ben Mee

Chelsea’s bid to climb back into the top ten of the Premier League continues on Saturday afternoon when they visit Brentford.

The Bees hold a five-point buffer over the bottom three but a run of five defeats in six league games has left Thomas Frank and his players looking nervously around their shoulders.

Chelsea managed to shake off their Carabao Cup final disappointment with a last-gasp FA Cup victory over Leeds United in midweek, keeping Mauricio Pochettino’s hopes for silverware alive.

Here’s 90min’s preview of the Blues’ trip to the Gtech Community Stadium.

Brentford suffered another injury blow in central defence in Monday night’s 4-2 defeat at West Ham. With Ethan Pinnock already sidelined, Ben Mee was substituted with a foot knock and the former Burnley centre-back has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Rico Henry, Bryan Mbeumo, Joshua Dasilva, Aaron Hickey and Kevin Schade are also significant absentees from Frank’s squad, but they still have the strike partnership of Ivan Toney and Neal Maupay, who have scored a combined ten league goals in 2023/24.

Brentford predicted lineup vs Chelsea (3-5-2): Flekken; Zanka, Ajer, Collins; Roerslev, Onyeka, Norgaard, Jensen, Reguilon; Toney, Maupay.

Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer only appeared as a substitute in the midweek victory over Leeds due to illness but will hope to make a return to the starting XI, potentially in place of Noni Madueke.

Levi Colwill will continue his partnership with Axel Disasi in central defence, with Thiago Silva still working his way back to full fitness.

The likes of Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, Benoit Badiashile, Carney Chukwuemeka, Romeo Lavia, Marc Cucurella and Lesley Ugochukwu remain sidelined by injuries.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Brentford (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Colwill, Chilwell; Caicedo,…
