Everton are rivalling Sevilla to take Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri on loan.
The Tunisia international had indicated he wanted to join Sevilla once given clearance by United manager Erik ten Hag, but Premier League rivals Everton have also made an approach.
The 20-year-old asked not to be selected by Tunisia for the Africa Cup of Nations as he focuses on his next move.
Lyon and Freiburg have also made enquiries for Mejbri, who is due to extend his United contract by another season before a loan is agreed.
The midfielder has been on the books at Man United since 2019, having made his senior debut for United in a 2-1 victory against Wolves at Molineux back in 2021.

United originally acquired Mejbri, who has been capped 27 times for the Tunisian national side, from Monaco in a £9.3million deal.
This season, he’s made 10 appearances across all competitions for United, scoring once during their 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford against Brighton, his first goal for the senior side.
Sevilla also want to sign forward David Datro Fofana on loan from Chelsea.
The 21-year-old, who’s contract with Chelsea is set to expire in 2029, spent the first half of the season on loan at Union Berlin but will now be recalled from the Bundesliga side.
Sevilla are also interested in a loan deal with Chelsea’s Datro Fofana who has spent the first half of the season playing at Union Berlin
Facundo Pellistri is also attracting the interest of clubs around Europe including Villarreal and PSV Eindhoven
