Manchester United are in talks with Raphael Varane over his future at Old Trafford, manager Erik ten Hag said on Thursday.
Ten Hag confirmed Mail Sport’s report that Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been handed a 12-month contract extension along with Victor Lindelof and Hannibal Mejbri.
However, United are reluctant to extend Varane’s £340,000-a-week deal, and want to give the Frenchman a new contract on lower terms or sell him this month.
Varane’s old club Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are understood to have backed away from signing the 30-year-old due to the cost of his wages.
Saudi Arabia is seen as a more viable option with United understood to be looking for a fee in the region of £25million.

Anthony Martial is the other United player whose current deal is due to run out in the summer, but the club have decided against offering him a new one as the striker’s nine-year career at Old Trafford draws to an end.
Asked about the five players on Thursday, Ten Hag said: ‘We are talking with Rapha Varane and with Anthony Martial, and we triggered the options on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal.’
