Hugo Lloris and Los Angeles FC have reached a verbal agreement over his move to Major League Soccer in another marquee signing for the competition.

The World Cup-winning goalkeeper is expected to sign a permanent deal that will bring his 11-year stay at Tottenham to an end.

Mail Sport exclusively revealed on Thursday that discussions over a switch to LAFC were in their final stages.

Lloris has become a major figure at Spurs since his arrival from Lyon for $14million in 2012.

But the goalkeeper has spent the first half of the season on the peripheries of the senior squad with Guglielmo Vicario and Fraser Forster recognized as head coach Ange Postecoglou‘s No 1 and No 2 goalkeepers, respectively.

The Frenchman has made close to 450 appearances for the club and was handed the club captaincy in 2015.

But he lost the armband earlier this year after it became clear he was surplus to requirements by Postecoglou.

Lloris’ existing contract expires at the end of the season but his exit will now be accelerated.

LAFC were beaten in the MLS Cup final earlier this month, falling to a 2-1 defeat by the Columbus Crew.

They currently have four goalkeepers on their roster but three of those are due to be out of contract at the end of this week.

It comes a week after Luis Suarez’s move to Inter Miami was confirmed. The former Liverpool and Barcelona striker joins the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba in Florida.

The new MLS season is not due to begin until late February. LAFC will play the Seattle Sounders on the opening weekend.
