UW Closes Out Road Slate At Oregon State Sunday

CORVALLIS, Ore.  – Finishing out the road portion of its schedule on Sunday, the Washington women’s soccer team takes on Oregon State, battling in a noon kickoff at Paul Lorenz Soccer Field.

SCOUTING OREGON STATE
Oregon State is in its third season under the direction of Lauren Sinacola, who led the Beavers to their first United Soccer Coaches Poll ranking since 2012 during her first season in 2021. Prior to taking over in Corvallis, Sinacola spent five seasons at Western Michigan, the final two as head coach.
 
Coming off of Thursday’s 2-2 draw with Washington State, Oregon State is 3-8-6, still seeking their first Pac-12 win at 0-6-3. The Beavers are 2-2-5 at home this season.
 
A two-time All-Pac-12 performer, junior forward McKenna Martinez leads the Beavers with six of the team’s 14 goals this season. Graduate student defender Helena Brown paces the Beavs with three assists on the campaign.
 
Between the posts, senior keeper Hailey Coll has seen the bulk of the action, starting all 17 matches. Coll owns a 1.97 GAA with a .726 save percentage, recording 82 saves. Coll is coming off of a season-high 11 stops versus Washington State.

SERIES HISTORY

Drawing last season’s meeting in Seattle, Washington leads the all-time series with Oregon State 20-7-5, rattling off nine straight wins from 1994-2002. The Huskies have dominated the Beavers on their own field, posting a 12-3-2 road mark. UW has not lost in Corvallis since 2011.

LAST MEETING (10/14/22)

SEATTLE – After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, the Washington women’s soccer team battled back on a crisp Friday night against Oregon State, earning a 2-2 draw and a valuable point in the Pac-12 table.

 

Former Beaver McKenzie Weinert was a dynamo for the Huskies, netting her first brace in a Husky kit and peppering the OSU goal with seven shots on the night.

 

The Huskies dominated the first half, yet found themselves behind by a pair just over 30 minutes in after conceding two goals in a span of 24 seconds.

 

The Beavers put together a counter attack down the right flank, with Sophie Conrad finishing off Megin Turi’s cross to the back post to give OSU a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute.
